Will Hamilton Make It Eight Formula 1 Championships?

The Formula 1 season is well underway, but it’s not been going the way of Lewis Hamilton who is looking to win his eighth world championship!

For the first time in a long time, we have a competitive F1 season. Usually, it is plain sailing for the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, but not this year. Red Bull and Verstappen are far more competitive and it could go right down to the last weekend.

This season there are a whole host of new driver lineups, including the introduction of Mick Schumacher, son of Michael. Eight teams in total have made changes for the new season with a lot being done between teams. This means they’ll be new rivalries being made as well as some surprise wins along the way.

The first race of the season took place in Bahrain, with Hamilton getting off to the perfect start. There are 23 races in total this season and unlike the Premier League season, this runs over a calendar year, with the last in Abu Dhabi on 12th December.

Driver Championship Odds

Max Verstappen – 4/9

Verstappen really is the flying Dutchman this year. He is currently top with 185 points having won five races this season, and finishing second in three more. Between himself and Red Bull they have made it click this season and look very competitive.

Verstappen has never won a World Championship before, which could go against him later on in the season. However, if he can keep up his current level of performance we could see someone other than Lewis picking up the trophy at the end of the season!

Lewis Hamilton – 6/4

Hamilton got himself back into the competition, winning at Silverstone last weekend. He is now on 177 points with four wins and three second places so far. He is one of the greatest drivers of all time and another championship this season, would set a new record.

Hamilton hasn’t quite been at his best this season but will still be confident of catching up with Verstappen. There is another 13 races to go which is more than enough time for him to close the gap. Seven world championships will only help Hamilton at this moment.

Constructors Championship Odds

Red Bull – 1/2 (289 points)

The side lead by Christian Horner have been working tirelessly over the last few years to try and beat Mercedes. They have gone through numerous drivers but now may have found the right pairing in Perez and Verstappen. Perez is highly experienced and Red Bull can guarantee on him finishing in or around the top five most weeks. Their car for the 2021 season looks fantastic and sooner or later someone is going to have to beat Mercedes.

Mercedes – 6/4 (285 points)

The fourth most successful team in Formula 1 history are used to dominating the sport. They have won the Constructors Championship for the last seven years. This is a fantastic record, finishing a staggering 254 points ahead of Red Bull last season. However, as Toto Wolff said they have found a “hair in the soup” of the current car and unless they remove that hair soon, it won’t be as plain sailing as normal. Obviously having Hamilton in your side helps a lot Red Bull are desperate to take the Drivers Championship back from the German side.
