After not the most productive year in terms of goals and assists for Jesse Lingard, can he carry on this form into the new season?
Cast your mind back to the 2018 World Cup when for a brief moment in time, football was coming home. Jesse Lingard was given the number seven shirt for England off the back of his best Premier League season yet. He had scored eight and assisted another six, putting him firmly in England starting 11.
At the World Cup, he then scored a worldie against Panama and got himself an assist as well. Things were looking good for the Man United forward and Jesse Lingard was finally now looking to have reached hit potential. However, since then his form has dropped again and his social media has been more entertaining than his performances.
After what was another lacklustre performance against Wolves people questioned what Lingard actually does. It turns out since May 2018, he has got himself four goals and two assists, All of which came in December 2018. This isn’t a very impressive record for the 26-year-old, who could find himself with less playing time as all the other forwards have scored or assisted already this season alone.

Jesse Lingard Fires Blanks
Due to Lingard’s poor form, Paddy Power thought what better way to celebrate than having a new special. There are four available for the season in Paddy Powers specials section in football.
Jesse Lingard NOT to score or assist a goal in September – 4/6. Given that this has been the case for the last six months then this could be a good bet. However, given that United have started the season much better than those last six months Lingard could do something. In September though, Man United have Leicester, West Ham and Arsenal to play. Three tough fixtures, only helping this bet land.
Jesse Lingard NOT to assist a goal in the EPL 19/20 – 7/2. Only two assists last season, the same as Dunk and Van Dijk, isn’t the most convincing return from an attacking midfielder. But this season he’ll have either Martial or Rashford in front of him, not Lukaku… Having a striker that can actually control the ball and finish should see him get at least one assist if he plays!
Jesse Lingard NOT to score in the EPL 19/20 – 16/1. Again you would be surprised if this came in but looking at his recent form then who knows? In December, Lingard looked like Messi in his peak and then within the space of a month he went to prime Bebe! This inconsistency won’t help him score any goals in the toughest league in the world. At 16/1, this could be an entertaining bet to run for the season.
Jesse Lingard NOT to score or assist a goal in the EPL 19/20 – 33/1. The big one. Any Manchester United forward should get at least one goal or assist in a whole season. However, at 33/1 it definitely worth a go. If this bet does land though then surely Lingard’s time in Manchester would be up?
