Fury Signs £80 million mega deal!
Tyson Fury has signed a deal with American broadcasters ESPN worth £80 million.
ESPN will be broadcasting Furys next five fights in America whilst BT Sport will still be the UK broadcaster. This has had conflicting views on how this will impact on the chances of fights between himself, AJ and Wilder. Fury believes that signing the deal with ESPN will make a second fight with Wilder more likely.
However, due to the fact that AJ is with DAZN streaming service and Wilder is with Showtime in America this could make deals more complicated. It has been a struggle between the three fighters to agree terms between themselves for fight in the past. Now it is going to get even harder with all the broadcasters going to want the fight.
Furys promoter Frank Warren has already made some comments on the situation. He has now said that his fighter is on a bigger platform. He has also stated that for for future fights, “they will will now have to come to us” when talking about other fighters.
But with the new deal has also come a new co-promoter for the Gypsy King. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum will also promote him alongside Frank Warren. The 87 year old has also promoted Muhammad Ali in the past and Floyd Mayweather. He believe Fury is currently at his peak.
Furys impact since the first fight
Since the first fight Fury has had a massive impact in the boxing world and the US. Now he has become far more respected in America and this is evident in his new deal. Boxing fans around the world all calling out for a Wilder v Fury part 2.
Initially Fury was expected to being signing an agreement to fight The Bronze Bomber in May sometime in Vegas. But now the new deal may jeopardise this. However Fury doesn’t want to wait around and wants to fight before the end of May.
It appears as though the tables have turned now between the two fighters too. For the first fight PaddyPower had Wilder at 8/11 and Fury at 6/4. For the next fight, even though its not been agreed yet, PaddyPower have Fury down as the favourite at 8/13 and Wilder 5/4. It may not be a huge change in terms of odds but it does show that the Gypsy King is now regarded as the favourite for a potential second fight.
