Euro 2020 Young Player Of The Tournament

This summer’s European Championship is full of some fantastic young players, but who is going to be the Young Player Of The Tournament at Euro 2020?

At most competitions, awards are given out for the best player and young players of the tournament. In the European Championships, however, this was only started at Euro 2016, with Portugals Renato Sanches winning it. To win this award, the oldest you can be at the time of the tournament is 22.

He was an integral part of the Portugal side that won Euro 2016, playing six times and scoring once. Sanches started in the final against France and in doing so became the youngest player to ever play in a European Championship final. Sanches had already completed a move to Bayern Munich before the competition for a fee of €35 million, potentially rising to €80 million, so there was no pressure…

Euro 2020, has probably the biggest wealth of fantastic young players the competition has seen. But, who will come out on top?

Euro 2020 Young Player Of The Tournament

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 4/7

The Italy goalkeeper has big shoes to fill taking over from Buffon but has done very well since. His side are through to the finals with Donnarumma conceding just three goals so far this summer and performing well in a penalty shootout!

He is one of the most experienced young players in the competition having played for AC Milan 215 times at the age of just 22. If he can be the hero again on Sunday and help Italy win the Euros, then surely he is nailed on for this award.

Pedri – 7/2

The Barcelona midfielder started every game for Spain this summer, keeping Thiago out of the side. He is just 18 years of age but is playing like an experienced professional. In the semi-final, he completed every single pass he made and was one of the stand-out players on the pitch.

His performances this summer, haven’t gone unnoticed. Striker Alvaro Morata has said he thinks Pedri will be one of Spain’s greatest ever players. He will very important for Spain for years to come!

Declan Rice – 9/1

Rice has been one of England’s best players this summer, dominating the midfield along with Kalvin Phillips. His performances so far have grabbed the attention of Chelsea and Man United for a possible transfer this summer.

He has played in all of England’s games so far and will continue to for however far they go. Rice put in his best performance so far against Germany and if he could put in two more and take England all the way, he could be an outsider.
