England take on Wales in a friendly on Thursday night and Betfred have specials on the highly anticipated game
Whenever England and Wales meet in whatever sport it may be its always a good occasion. The two countries border one and other causing a sporting rivalry between them.
The first time they ever played each other was back in 1879. It was held at Kennington Oval and England came away 2-1 winners. Since then the two sides have met each other a total of 102 times. England has won 67 of these with Wales winning 14.
The last time the two sides met was back in 2016 at the European Championship. This was a great game and once again England came away 2-1 winners, with Sturridge coming to the rescue in the 91st minute.
Tomorrow won’t be as dramatic or exciting as the last one as its a friendly and there won’t be any fans in the ground. To make it more interesting though, Betfred has a list of specials that are worth looking at!
England Vs Wales Betfred Specials
Both Teams To Score In The 2nd Half – 11/4
In friendlies, there tends to be a lot of goals. Players aren’t as determined when it comes to defending and goals can be conceded fairly easier. On top of this, there are no fans, which seems to have resulted in more goals being scored around the world. In the Premier League, each game averages 3.79 goals as opposed to 2.72 last year. We think this is a good bet as England are good going forward but we seen some of their defenders have awful displays at the weekend, none of than Harry Maguire!
D Calvert-Lewin To Score A Header – 9/2
The Everton striker is in fine form and that has seen him receive his first call up to the national team. He currently has six goals in his last four games, three of which have been headers. On top of that, no one has scored more headers than him in the Premier League since the start of last season. Given that he is 8/13 to score anytime, 9/2 for a header is a good price.
Red Card In The Match – 6/1
As we said before these two countries are huge rivals, especially when in a sporting context. Just because it’s a friendly, doesn’t mean it will be played like one. Both sides will have players with points to prove and they may take it too far. Also, don’t forget a lot of these players play against each other each week. There could also be some bad blood from previous games.
England To Win From Behind – 15/2
Maybe a repeat of the Euro 2016 game? England, like they are for this game, were favourites for that. However, anyone can score and with England’s shaky defence then who knows! They’ve shown they can do it before, just hope this time it doesn’t take until the 91st minute!
