The Champions League is not only back, but we’re now at the semi-final stage.

So, with some of the world’s best strikers going head to head, who is the favourite to finish with the most goals?

The greatest club competition on the planet resumes tonight, with the world’s top players all competing.

Finishing first among leading scorers in the Champions League is a major accomplishment that is only helped by how long your team can actually stay in the competition.

Erling Haaland has topped the scoring chart in two of the last three years (2021 & 2023), but with Manchester City out of contention, it is time to pass the mantle to another player.

Ronaldo is currently the all-time leading scorer in the Champions League. The ex-Manchester United striker has 140 goals on his record from his time with United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Few of this year’s crop will ever catch up to him, but you’ve got to be in it to win it.

So just who will be the top goalscorer in the Champions League in 2024?

Champions League Top Goalscorer Odds

Vinicius Junior 66/1
Rodrygo 66/1
Brahim Diaz 175/1
Serge Gnabry 300/1
Jamal Musiala 300/1
Leroy Sane 300/1
Thomas Muller 300/1
Karim Adeyemi 300/1

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich Showdown

At the time of writing this article, both Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane stand on eight goals apiece in the Champions League.

Conceivably, they are not the only two footballers who could win this, with Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham still within touching distance if things go Real Madrid’s way.

However, the reason Mbappe leads the betting markets is that, between himself and Kane, PSG is more likely to get to the final, thereby giving him an extra game to score.

If PSG can beat Borussia Dortmund and Bayern lose to Real Madrid, only the Madrid players could potentially catch up with him.

Seeing as they need at least three goals each (Bellingham needs four) just to equal Mbappe, that makes it all the more unlikely that they could pip him to the top spot.

And that is why Mbappe is odds ON and the rest are lagging much further behind on 66/1.

That, and of course, the fact that it will be his last European fixture at home for PSG before a probable summer departure.

Mbappe To Score Price Boost

Ahead of tonight’s game against Borussia Dortmund, Betfred are offering a price boost on Kylian Mbappe.

The odds on Mbappe to score 2 or more goals in 90 minutes have been bumped from 5/2 to 3/1.

There is also a price boost on PSG to ‘Win Both Halves’, which is now available at odds of 11/4.

And finally, if you think Niclas Fullkrug can score tonight, and in the 90 Minutes, he is also 3/1 with Betfred.

He has already found the back of the net three times in the competition for Borussia Dortmund. Admittedly, that is half the goal rate of Mbappe or Kane (.31 to .73 goals per 90 minutes); he only has to score once to win the bet!

Reach The Final

Team Odds
Real Madrid 4/9
PSG 4/6
Borussia Dortmund 11/10
Bayern Munich 13/8

Let’s be real here, those odds above are so teeny weeny that bookmakers are essentially saying they have no idea who will go through to the Champions League final.

You’re basically looking at Odds On versus Evens, so there really is very little in it. And with three of those teams having incredible strikers, it could be anybody’s game.

Real Madrid may be hot favourites to go through and eventually win the Champions League but winning it all is not guaranteed due to the unpredictable nature of knockout football.

For instance, teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich have frequently been favourites and have a good track record of winning the tournament in recent years.

Real Madrid, especially, has defied the odds multiple times, having won the Champions League 14 times.

However, there have also been several instances where less favoured teams have triumphed. Notably, Chelsea in 2012, Liverpool in 2005, and Porto in 2004 all won the tournament despite not being the top favourites at the start.

So while Bayern Munich may appear to be the least likely to win, don’t count them out just yet.
