With a takeover in the North-East on the horizon, Betfair has a list of specials available for the upcoming seasons at Newcastle United
With no football currently being played, it’s a grim time for fans. However, those in the North-East would argue otherwise. If the rumours are true, they are about to be bought out by a Saudi backed consortium.
This would be good for two reasons. Firstly, it would finally see owner Mike Ashley leave the club. Since he took over in 2007, the billionaire hasn’t had the best of times at the club. He has seen them hire and fire many managers, spend a season in the Championship and sell their best players. With Ashley out the door, Newcastle can work on going back to one of the biggest clubs in the country.
The second reason is the Saudi consortium are worth a LOT of money. They are looking to copy what has happened at Man City, but better. They have said they will invest heavily in the squad and staff, with Pochettino said to be their first choice as manager.
So, with this takeover looking close, Betfair have a list of very interesting specials on offer for the next couple of seasons.
Newcastle Takeover Specials
Newcastle to spend over 100m (GBP) on any player before the 31st of January 2021 – 5/2
At the shortest odds in Betfair’s promotions is this 5/2 offer. Newcastle’s record fee for a player is Joelintin, who they signed at the start of the season for £40 million. Now, this would be a huge increase seeing them more than double the record if they signed a player for over £100 million. However, what a way it would be to win over fans.
If Newcastle is going to want to finish near the top of the table, they are going to have to spend big. Any clubs who Newcastle try to buy off will know they have the money and most probably up the price. £100 million is a lot for Newcastle, but in this current football market, it’s not unthinkable.
Newcastle to with either the Premier League, FA Cup or EFL Cup in the next two seasons after 2019/20 – 10/3
The Premier League may be a step too far in such a short space of time but the two cup competitions aren’t. Nowadays, the top clubs prioritise the league, top four and European competitions over the cups.
If Newcastle made a couple of decent signings which you would expect, a cup run could well be on. In the last two seasons, Watford and Aston Villa have made it to finals. This shows it is achievable and in a final, anyone can win. Their new owners would love some silverware right at the start so why not!
Newcastle to win the Premier League in any of the next 5 seasons after 2019/20 – 15/2
Using Man City as a comparison, this could happen. City was taken over in 2008, and buy the 11/12 season had won their first Premier League. Now it is harder to win a league as there are more top teams fighting for the title. However, City has shown enough money can get you to the top anyway.
Five seasons is a long time and Newcastle could definitely be challenging by then if the owners come in and make the right appointments.
Newcastle to sign either Harry Kane or Jadon Sancho before January 2021 – 20/1
A slightly ambitious one, but sides have to be in the football market. Both Sancho and Kane are said to be keen on moves away from their clubs. Newcastle would be able to pay eye-watering amounts in wages, so this could make the difference.
Also, with moving to Newcastle, you’re moving to one of the biggest clubs in England. They have a fantastic stadium and with 50,000 singing your name, why wouldn’t you be interested! A move back to England for Sancho would help him with getting in the Euro squad next year.
Betfair has all of these plus some more realistic special and some way more ambitious ones available on their site. Be sure to check them out before they are taken over officially, and the odds drop!
