Arsenal and Arteta are having a terrible season but how bad will it get? Paddy Power have a few specials on how this season might turn out for The Gunners!
Arteta has been at Arsenal for over a year now and at times it has looked like he has the club heading in the right direction. He won The FA Cup in his first season as a manager and got some big results towards the end of the season. Many Arsenal fans were confident going into this season, especially with new signings like Willian, Partey and Gabriel joining the club. On top of this, captain and top goalscorer Aubameyang had just signed a new contract.
Fast forward three months and things haven’t gone so well. Arsenal are currently 15th in the Premier League and have won just one game in their last seven. In total, they have four wins in eleven games, and 13 points in total.
It hasn’t been the start that Arsenal expected and they are struggling in front of goal. They have managed just 10 goals in 11 games, the fourth-worst record in the whole of the league. This had lead to Paddy Power opening up the Arsenal In Crisis market and there are some very interesting prices in there!
Arsenal In Crisis
Mikel Arteta to no longer be Arsenal manager on the 23rd of May 2021 – 11/10
He is currently priced at 11/2 to be the next manager to lose his job in the Premier Leauge. The club will be expecting some sort of run in either the FA Cup, League Cup or the Europa League. If this doesn’t happen pressure will be on Arteta. In terms of league form if they finish in the bottom half, then surely it will be curtains for Arteta. He side are struggling at the minute and we’re into December and they are still a long way off the top four, let alone the top of the table!
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score less than 10 EPL goals in 2020/21 season – 7/4
No one would have thought this would even be possible at the start of this season. He scored 22 goals in his last two season in the Premier League and was one of the favourites to be top goalscorer this season. This season though hasn’t gone well at all. He has just two goals in 11 games and only one has been from open play. Aubameyang is really struggling and his team can’t score goals either and so under ten could surprisingly be very likely!
Nicolas Pepe to leave Arsenal in 2021 for a transfer fee of less than 40m – 7/2
The winger joined Arsenal back in 2019 for a club-record fee of £72 million. He came with a very high expectation after having a fantastic season at Lille. Pepe finished the season with 22 goals in the league and looked a real player for the future with his blistering pace and composure in front of goal. However, it hasn’t quite worked at Arsenal and he finds himself on the bench a lot of the time. Pepe has just five league goals for his side, one of which has come this season. He is out of favour and Arteta didn’t sign him so don’t be surprised to see him on the way out next season.
Arsenal to no longer have Gunnersaurus as club mascot before the end of 2021 – 100/1
During the break in football this year, Arsenal announced that cuts would be taking place and that one of them would be Gunnersaurus. He is the Arsenal mascot and unfortunately, the club felt it would be right to remove him but carrying on paying players who don’t even play really… However, one of these such players is Mesut Ozil. The German, who is the highest-paid player at the club, decided he would pay Gunnersaurus’ wages. If Ozil leaves though in January, will he continue to pay his wages?
